La Selva Pintada brought together archaeologists, rock art specialists, local communities, tour guides, indigenous communities, resource managers, and the general public to explore and celebrate global rock art and in particular the spectacular paintings of the Serranía de la Lindosa in Colombia.
The conference attendance was at capacity in the Centro Cultural de San José del Guaviare, with over 100 people watching live on Zoom, and over 1000 watching both live and on catch up on Youtube.

Following two days of talks, performances, and workshops, including working with palm fibres and creating our own rock art on the walls of the Centro Cultural de San José del Guaviare, the conference participants visited the communities and rock art sites of Cerro Azul and Raudal, accompanied by community leaders and religious specialists from local indigenous groups.

Selva Pindata -session 1
To support local heritage and ecological tourism and conservation, Last Journey produced “The Painted Forest/La Selva Pintada” book. Four hundred copies were donated to the Cerro Azul community during the conference for sale to visiting tourists.
